On January 17th, Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace made their dual announcements about the Princess of Wales’s mysterious abdominal surgery and hospitalization, and King Charles’s prostate issue. Not even one full week later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex popped up at the One Love premiere in Jamaica, having been personally invited by the CEO of Paramount. The Sussexes were greeted warmly by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the same man who fired Prince William and Kate during their catastrophic Flop Tour in 2022. I’m taking this particular stroll down memory lane because Harry and Meghan looked healthy, happy and unconcerned with the royal dramas playing out over there. Of course, shortly after that trip, Charles told Harry about his cancer and Harry rushed right over… to spend 30 minutes with his dad. Harry hasn’t been back since early February, and he hasn’t projected an air of someone who is allowing his father or brother’s drama to ruin his plans. That hasn’t stopped “royal sources” from feverishly briefing People Mag that this is all about the palace SNUBBING the Sussexes.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in the dark about Kate Middleton’s abdominal surgery and recovery.
“They are aware of everything that goes on back in England, but are being left out of any details regarding Kate,” a family source tells PEOPLE. “There is clearly no trust.”
Despite Prince Harry, 39, traveling from California to the U.K. last month following the announcement of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, his brief visit to his home country did not involve meeting with his brother, Prince William, 41, or sister-in-law, Princess Kate, 42. A royal source said at the time there were “no plans” for the brothers to get together.
A former courtier suggested that the Prince of Wales’ “principal concern is his wife” in the weeks following the surgery that kept her in the hospital for nearly two weeks, but trust continues to be a concern following the release of Harry’s revealing memoir, Spare, and the Netflix docuseries with Meghan, 42. “It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law who’s had a serious operation and also see your niece and nephews. But it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad,” a source close to the royal household told PEOPLE.
I still find that “go and see your sister-in-law” quote so odd. William raged for a full week about how he still despises Harry and never, ever wants to see him again and they’re mad at Harry because he didn’t break into Adelaide Cottage to check Kate’s pulse? Anyway, I believe that the palace isn’t keeping Harry in the loop. The thing is, I don’t think many people are in the loop, which is why Kensington Palace has been staggering from one catastrophe to the next. It’s not all about punishing the prince who escaped, it’s about wall-to-wall incompetence.
